Easy

The Meadow Trail, at the Fiery Gizzard State Park's Information & Welcome Center, provides an opportunity to sample the flora and fauna of South Cumberland in an easy, 1.3 mile walk that begins at the kiosk adjacent to the Welcome Center parking area.  Once part of a golf course, much of this trail route now meanders through meadows of wildflowers and native grasses, bordered by hardwood forests.  Along the way, you'll pass the park's aviary, where you can see birds of prey up close. Next, on your left, you'll see the outdoor campus of the South Cumberland Forest School, a project of the South Cumberland Community Fund and the Friends of the Parks. Further along the trail, several small bogs and creeks allow you to examine wetlands up-close.

This is an "out and back" walk, with a short loop trail at its furthest extent.  Coupled with a leisurely browse through the Information & Welcome Center, this is a great hike if you have young children you'd like to introduce to the natural world!
