Easy
This easy 2 mile out-and-back hike is a must for if it's your first visit to Savage Gulf State Park! The Great Stone Door and its overlooks are not to be missed! This trail begins at the Savage Gulf North trailhead, the first 1/4 mile of which is paved, out to the Laurel Gulf overlook. The wooden observation platform at that overlook features an amazing set of viewing binoculars which will allow color-blind visitors to experience fall colors in all their natural colors!
At Stone Door, take time to explore the various vantage points provided by the large stone overlooks. If you are interested in a bit of a work-out, descend through the Great Stone Door itself on a stone staircase. The work-out happens on the way back up!
Return to the Savage Gulf North trailhead the way you came.
